The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team scored a victory at home Thursday evening by defeating the visiting Robert Morris University (Peoria) Eagles. The first quarter was closely contested with each team trading leads throughout and ended with RMU up by one at 13-12. Lincoln stepped up their defense leading to open shots in transition to help build a lead in the second quarter.
At the half, Lincoln led 32-23. The second half saw the Lady Lynx extend their lead over the Eagles to as many as 19 points and go on to take the win by a final score of 68-53. The freshman duo of Jantia Clark and Erynn Young again turned in outstanding performances for LC. Clark lead the scoring with 25 points and added 5 assists as well as 5 steals. Young chipped in 17 points to go with her 12 rebounds, 8 blocks and 5 steals.
Other key contributors included Zhane Roper (7 points, 5 rebounds) and Hannah Hake (7 points, 2 steals). The victory evens Lincoln’s record at 7-7. The team will resume play in January with a game at Black Hawk College in Moline, IL on January 5th.
